Poke bowl is classic Hawaiian dish that has become popular in recent years in social media due it’s photogenic colourful look. In Hawaiian Poke means to slice or cut and it’s pronounced “POH-keh.” Poke bowl is made of 3 main parts: fresh fish (usually tuna), rice, and fresh vegetables. So basically, this dish contains everything you need in one bowl.
WHAT IS THE BEST FISH FOR POKE BOWL?
Traditionally poke bowl is made with fresh tuna (ahi tuna/yellowfin tuna), but there is no problem to use other fish that you like or that are available in your area, for example, salmon. The most important rule is to use sushi grade fish, that is super fresh and that’s what makes the difference. If you use fresh fish, marinate it well, the fish will melt in your mouth.
